Jammu kid Raksha Women’s Safety Application
Gets honoured at national, international levels

JAMMU, Jan 29: At a time when the safety of women especially those discharging their duties in various fields of activity is no less than a challenge, a kid from the city of temples has developed an application that ensures safety of women folk.
The application developed by the kid has been recognized both at the national and the international level. He was over the moon after being awarded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Republic Day in 2021. He wants to be a computer scientist with a vision for all the people of the universe.
Meet Harmanjot Singh, a student of 9th class of Jodhamal Public School, Jammu. A resident of Greater Kailash, Harmanjot developed an application namely Raksha Women’s Safety App. The application revolves around the safety of women and the same is available on the Play Store platform. The application has many features and it aims to secure the safety of women folk.
“The application has features like call police, message family member and search nearby police station.
It has an artificial intelligence based chat box as well and all the necessary safety tips are given in the application. My aim is to ensure safety as well as security for the women more so those who are working in different fields,” says Harmanjot while sharing his views.
The application developed by Harmanjot got international recognition first as the Silicon Valley felicitated him with code of honours. The event was organized by White Hat organization based in San Francisco, California in the United States of America. The application has more than 5,000 downloads.
In January 2021, Harmanjot’s joy knew no bounds after he was selected for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar under the innovation category. He was presented the award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Republic Day last year.
“I cannot express my views after I received the award from Prime Minister Sir. It was an honour and I have no words to express my joy.
My mother is my inspiration and she motivated me a lot in developing this application. I would like to work in this regard in future as well so that the lives of women are secured,” says Harmanjot.
Harmanjot’s parents are doctors and are discharging their duties in Jammu. His father’s name is Dr. Harvinder Singh and mother’s name is Dr. Mandeep Kaur. Harmanjot is also an international rank 1 (gold medalist) in both international mathematics Olympiad 2020-21 and national cyber Olympiad 2019-20 conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation.
Harmanjot has interest in science, technology, mathematics and wants to be a computer scientist with vision for all. Harmanjot is associated with Young Genius and has been motivating kids who want to excel in fields already excelled by him.
