Doda witnessing massive development confined to twitter only | Road leading to Bhagwa turns into pool of mud; residents blame PMGSY officials for mess | | Early Times Report
Doda, Jan 29: Recently Doda District bagged 2nd position in the good governance index that was recently issued. But the dilapidated roads in the district puncture the tall claims of good governance. A resident Abdul Qayoom Lone said, “Two years ago the PMGSY Department took control of Doda-Bhagwa Road and since then it has turned into a pool of mud. Prior to this work being taken up by the PMGSY department this road was in a better condition. Since the day PMGSY has taken over the control of the road people are suffering.” He said, “Six months ago we had called an Additional Deputy Commissioner to this spot. He had assured us that this road will be repaired. The ADC was also accompanied by the officials of PMGSY Department. But assurances have remained confined to papers only.” Lone on behalf of the residents urged the administration to repair the drainage system in the area. “The level of drains and culvert that have been constructed is not upto the mark,” he added. Residents said that performance of administration is confined to twitter handles only. “Due to accumulation of water the road has sunk and any mishap can occur. If the level of the road is not maintained it will sink further and can lead to an accident,” they added. |
