MeT forecasts dry weather in J&K | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 1: The minimum temperature stayed below freezing point in most parts of Kashmir valley with the famous ski resort of Gulmarg recording a low of minus 9.0 degree Celsius on Tuesday. A meteorological department official forecast weather to mainly remain dry during Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 1.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday against minus 1.6 degree Celsius on the previous night. Famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 9.0 degree Celsius against the minus 6.6 degree Celsius. The temperature is minus 1.4 degree below normal generally during this period of the year. Qazigund, on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, recorded a low of minus 0.3 degree Celsius against the minus 2.8 degree Celsius on the previous night. Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 2.6 degree Celsius against the minus 2.4 degree Celsius on the previous night. Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 6.2 degree Celsius against the minus 4.8 degree Celsius recorded the previous night.. Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of 0.3 degree Celsius against the minus 0.6 degree Celsius on the previous night, the MeT office said. |
