Rescue operation launched to trace 6 missing persons | | | Early Times Report ANANTNAG, Feb 24: J&K government has launched a rescue operation in the upper reaches of south Kashmir to trace the six persons from Warwan Kishtwar who are missing since Tuesday. Three teams of rescuers are searching for the missing persons who were heading home to snow-bound Warwan from Anantnag district. Officials said the six persons had started their journey on foot on Tuesday from Anantnag via Margan Top and they did not reach home in Warwan. The south Kashmir upper reaches had received heavy snow on Tuesday night. Director, disaster management department, Aamir Ali said a rescue mission has been launched by three teams. He said one team of officials from various departments is proceeding by road alongwith machines. “The second team comprises an Army rescue team and local volunteers who are on foot to trace the missing,” he said. A helicopter is also on standby and waiting for weather to improve, Ali said. |
