Spending money on musical concerts, admin has no funds to tackle dog menace! | | | ET Report
Srinagar: Even as the administration in Jammu and Kashmir has been spending “millions” to host musical concerts or sorts, where even the Bollywood celebrities are invited to perform, the officials are complaining of shortage of money to tackle deadly dog menace which is turning deadly.
In Pattan area of north Kashmir, stray dogs have been on rampage attacking children in particular. This month alone, a kid was killed and another mauled by stray dogs. While the locals staged protests demanding action against the stray packs, the officials allegedly responded saying they had no funds.
Former Minister and Peoples Conference leader Imran Ansari taunted at the government saying “Allegations of locals, directions by Admin, & refusal of District Animal Husbandry by saying they have no Budget to tackle with the issue of stray dogs. In between, a three-year-old boy was injured after attacked by stray dogs at KP Payeen Pattan. State of affairs!”
On February 6, a child was mauled to death by stray dogs and in the latest on February 25, a three year old kid was seriously wounded by stray dogs in Singhpora village of Pattan town in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
This was the second attack from the stray dogs in the same village. Earlier this month stray dogs had mauled a 12-year old boy to death.
Locals, who staged a protests said that the kid identified as Hadi Ali son of Shabir Ahmed, a resident of KP Payeen, Hanjiveera Singhpora was attacked by dogs when he was playing outside his house.
Locals managed to save him from the dogs, but he had sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The locals said they have told by the administration that they have no funds for tackling dog menace.
The J&K administration has been facing criticism for spending public money to host celebrations of sorts like musical concerts and festivals but that basic needs of people were not being addressed.
The people of Jammu and Kashmir have been seeking personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi into public complaints of alleged misgovernance and corruption in the Union Territory.
