Rains lash Kashmir, snow in upper reaches

SRINAGAR, Mar 4: Some higher reaches in Kashmir received fresh snow and rains lashed the plains, officials said on Friday.
The tourist resorts of Gulmarg and Pahalgam have received fresh snow last night. The minimum temperature in Pahalgam was zero and Gulmarg recorded minus 3.4 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological department said Srinagar recorded 4.3 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours while the night temperature was 4.8 degrees Celsius.
Qazigund in south Kashmir had 17.2 mm of rain.
Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 10.6 degrees Celsius.
Drass in Ladakh had minus 5 degrees Celsius, Leh minus 6.6 degrees and Kargil minus 8 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.
The MeT department predicted moderate to heavy rain and snow for two days from March 6 in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
In Jammu, there may be light to moderate rain on March 6-7 with chances of thunderstorms. Ladakh could see moderate to heavy snowfall over Zojila-Gumri axis.
