Jammu, Mar 14: Students of Jammu University staged a massive protest here on Monday against what they termed as “anti-youth” decisions of the present regime. Talking to reporters protesters said, “The recent orders of the Administrative Council vis-à-vis education sector should be revoked forthwith.” “During the past few months the J&K Government has issued three orders: ReT teachers to be promoted as general line teachers, masters to be promoted as lecturers and appointments within the SCERT to be made in house,” they said, adding, “By taking these decisions the government Stage protest, threaten hunger strike if Govt fails to reverse its orders Say all jobs reserved for employees of Education Deptt, new selection blocked as blocked the direct recruitment of youth into the Education Department. The students who are pursuing M Phil, PHD and other higher courses have been left with no posts to apply.” Protesters said, “The present regime is taking the decisions that are directly hitting the qualified youth. We want to ask the helmsmen where we will go after acquiring such high degrees.” They said, “If the government cannot provide us with jobs then it should close the colleges and universities. If the recent three decisions are not reversed we will be left with no other option other than going on a hunger strike.” |
