BJP Govt strengthened democracy by installing three-tier Panchayati Raaj: Kavinder
3/17/2022 10:41:36 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 17: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta on Thursday expressed hope that the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 24 will further bolster the grassroots democracy in J&K as the credit of installing three-tier Panchayati Raaj in the UT goes to BJP government.
In a statement issued to media persons, Kavinder said that PM Modi has a special affinity towards the people of J&K and his scheduled visit to the UT is testimony to this fact.
He said conduct of DDC and BDC elections is another milestone of BJP government in the development of J&K as the significance of these bodies can be well understood after going through the hefty amount spared by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for reaching out to people through Panchayati Raaj Institutions.
He said that besides taking firsthand information on Panchayat working in J&K, the PM Modi is likely to launch several development projects on April 24, which is observed as Panchayati Raaj Day.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said that BJP has fulfilled poll promise of strengthening democracy at grassroots level and successful conduct of DDC and BDC polls for the first time in the history of J&K is the proof of party’s sincerity towards J&K.
He said that the BJP government under PM Modi’s dynamic leadership has changed the development course of the UT and people have already started enjoying the fruits of robust government initiatives.
Kavinder said that BJP Government is providing every service at the doorsteps of people irrespective of location of their residences because it is for the first time that government is considering rural hamlets at par with those situated in urban areas as far as providing facilities and services are concerned.
He said that another innovative step taken by BJP Government in the UT is celebrations of Block Diwas / public outreach programmes to provide doorstep services to the people and bringing accountability and transparency into the implementation of various schemes besides strengthening democracy at grassroots level.
“With the advent of three-tier Panchayati Raj system, participative democracy has become a reality and people are the primary shapers of developmental plans”, he said adding that what BJP government has given to J&K and what is in the offing is something which no other political party in the country can even imagine as the same has been experienced by the people in the last over 70 years when dispensations of different hues and shades ruled the erstwhile state of J&K.
