Will tell Amit Shah no one in JK Admin listens to people: Panchayat Representatives | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 17: Representatives of All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference on Thursday welcomed the upcoming Jammu visit of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah. Addressing a news conference here, they said, “We will meet the Union Home Minister and apprise him about our issues. The first and foremost thing we want to bring into his notice is that three panchayat members were targeted in Kashmir during the past 15-days. Till date more than 30 panchayat members have fallen prey to the bullets. Our demand is that the panchayat members who have given representations to seek security should be provided with the security cover at the earliest.” “Another issue which we want to apprise Amit Shah ji about is that a few people are trying to demoralize our institution. E-tendering has led to many works not taking place on the ground. We want that works below Rs 5 lakhs should be allotted without e-tendering. It will allow the development works to move on without any hindrances,” they said. “The CAPEX budget of Rs 22 lakhs sanctioned for panchayats has not been spent. Due to e-tendering small works are not taking place and it’s hampering development,” they said, adding, “It’s unfortunate that a Panch is given Rs 1000/ as honorarium while a Srapanch gets meager Rs 3000/ per month. Our demand is that honorariums of Panchs should be fixed at Rs 5000/ per month and Sarpanchs should get Rs 10000/.” “In Jammu and Kashmir every panchayat gave lists of PMAY beneficiaries to the concerned department but the names of only few people have been included in the list,” they added. The representatives said, “No one listens to us except the Home Minister and the Prime Minister. We will also inform Amit Shah ji that no one in the J & K administration pays any heed towards our pleas.” |
