Shiv Sena will make rehabilitation possible | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 17: It’s very unfortunate that for the last more than three decades, nothing has been done practically on ground to prepare any roadmap for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits to the Kashmir Valley except showing them Hindus displaced from Kashmir. In 1990, when Kashmiri Hindus and Sikhs were forced to migrate from the Kashmir Valley, then the founder of Shivsena, Honorable Bala Saheb Thackeray, extended a helping hand to the Kashmiri migrants, in the same way even today J&K Shiv Sena is standing with the Kashmiri migrants because “We know their pain”. This was stated by Manish Sahni, President J&K Shiv Sena while addressing a battery of journalists at Party’s Central Office in Jammu. Sahni said that the present as well as all the previous governments have been making tall claims about the return of Kashmiri Pandits to their homes in the valley. He recalled that even the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha claimed many times that the government is serious about the rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits, but perhaps till date the safe and dignified return made possible. Sahni said that it is quite unfortunate that these migrants have been living in the various camps for the displaced for the last 32 years and now it has become all the more difficult for them to survive amid sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities and unprecedented spine breaking inflation. Sahni said that some political parties are baking their political bread by beating the wounds of the displaced due to their vested political interests whereas the present and successive governments at the Centre did not take any concrete step for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants and to provide them employment. “The present J&K Government was carrying out the process of serving notices to collect electricity bills from Kashmiri migrants living in Jagti area of Jammu and this process was put on hold as soon as Shiv Sena raised its voice,” he said. Responding to a question asked by a media person regarding the movie ‘The Kashmir File’, Sahni said that even today the land of Kashmir is incomplete without Kashmiri Hindus. For the last 7 years, neither the BJP in J&K nor in the Centre have made possible the rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants at the grassroots level. The Shiv Sena President said that in view of the current situation in Kashmir, there seems to be bleak possibility of early rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants in the valley. He appealed to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to come out with a result oriented plan that would make their return possible practically on ground. On this occasion Gen Secretaries Vikas Bakshi and GI Singh were present. |
