Employees hold protest in favour of old pension scheme | | | Early Times Report JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Mar 28: A group of non-gazetted employees under the banner Jammu & Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee today carried out a protest against the New Pension scheme and demanded implementation of old pension scheme. The office bearers of AIRPUF led the demonstration. Talking to media persons the protesters said that new pension scheme is 'draconian' and it should be revoked at the earliest. The protesters said that the old pension scheme should be implemented since it covers all the benefits as well as privileges for all the employees of the different departments. The protesters said that since all the employees including the bureaucrats are covered under the new pension scheme all the employees should come under one umbrella and raise protest in support of their demands. The protesters said they will continue their protest unless the government is forced to implement the old pension scheme. The protesters carried out the protest as part of the country wide programme and were carrying placards as well as banners. They demanded intervention from LG Manoj Sinha in this regard. The protesters took a dig at the politicians and said that if they can enjoy the benefits of pension why employees are denied the same under the old pension scheme. The protesters threatened that in case their demands are not met by May 22 then they would hold a sit-in at Jantar Mantar. They said the finer details in this regard would be made public once the office bearers of AIRPUF meet at New Delhi and chalk out the programme. |
