| Talks with whom? | | | | Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti is right when she blamed some vested interests for vitiating the atmosphere in Kashmir which had cost the lives of scores of youth.And if she has voiced pain over the killing of several boys she is not wrong because as a Kashmiri she has to shed a tear or two if there is any loss of life in Kashmir. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti while addressing the 70th Independence Day said she is pained by the injuries inflicted on the youth. "I am pained and anguished over injuries inflicted to the youth of Kashmir," adding "some vested elements are hell bent on vitiating the atmosphere of Kashmir. "She said, "From 1996 till date I along with my party did everything for the youth. We freed them from harassment, and from the fear of white armed vehicles." She seems to be scared of naming the vested interests and when Pakistan, its agencies and separatists besides militants, operating in Kashmir, are the vested interests that continue to vitiate the atmosphere in Kashmir. While telling people that she, her father the PDP have been able to help youth and scores of them were set free but the vested interests were behind the plan of inciting the youth to indulge in violence. That is a signal for derailing peace which is enemy to development and progress. If there is peace the Government is bound to implement various development projects.And when there is violence, death and killing the Government's main attention is diverted to tackling the incidents of violence.Even the central Government's commitment to open the strings of its purse for the development of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. But its interest gets diverted by the acts of violence. She also praised her father's decision for releasing Hurriyat leaders during his tenure from 2002 to 2005.Talking about the Muslim world she said, "The entire Muslim world is fighting for democracy. But the gun has now damaged the social fabric of entire Muslim world."Talking about her father's dreams she said, "When Mufti Sahab was on death bed, he had only one dream that was to solve the Kashmir problem."In an indirect reference to New Delhi she said, "Why is it that democracy is limited only to election in Kashmir. Dialogue is also an essential component of democracy. She has talked on the need for reopening the channels of dialogue. But dialogue with whom or with which agency? Is it possible to hold talks with Pakistan that has been openly exporting terror to Jammu and Kashmir? Is it feasible to hold talks with separatists who continue to incite people to indulge in acts of violence ?Pakistan sent a number of gifts to India on its Independence day. First was the attack on a CRPF camp in interior of Srinagar on August 15 in which nine CRPF personnel were injured and one commandent of CRPF was killed. Another gift was assisting infiltrators in crossing into Kashmir from across Kupwara sector and already two infiltrators have been killed and the encounter is on. If Pakistan wants talks to be held it should first of all stop exporting terror to India including Jammu and Kashmir. If the Hurriyat leaders want to hold dialogue with the centre they should first of all stop issuing calendar for shutdowns and protest rallies. Once they do it New Delhi is willing to hold talks. |
