Jammu, Aug 17: The SHO of a police station in Jammu district is nowadays busy flattering the concerned MLA. Come what may, he resolutely visits the MLA and salutes him before setting to day's work.
Merely a salute to his new found 'boss' keeps him happy and focussed on duty, according to police sources.
Sources said he 'says ditto to the MLA and does all his fair and unfair works. Though he gets salary from the department, he works for the MLA with whose blessings he has come to the police station as its SHO for the second time'.
"He is heading the police station since long. Before his posting there, he was SHO of a police station in the heart of Jammu city," sources said.
As senior officers were not happy with his style of working, he was shifted from the rural area too and attached with the DPL. Another officer was posted in his place, but with the MLA's help, he later again managed his posting as SHO of the police station. "Since then, he has been visiting the MLA's house daily to salute him before setting to work," the sources added.
Sources alleged that most of the time of the SHO is consumed in settling land disputes at the instance of the MLA. "Not only this, those, booked by police in different criminal cases, are allowed to go homes at night on the orders of the MLA," sources alleged.
Since his posting in the MLA's constituency, the SHO was alleged to have settled several land disputes. All this was being done by him to further strengthen the MLA's position in his constituency.
"Though he also takes cognizance of complaints against the SHO's trustworthy people, he forces their rivals to arrive at a compromise with them. A senior officer, who is not happy with him, plans to transfer him to another district in near future," sources said. |
