Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 17: The Governor NN Vohra will stay. There are no plans to either change him or enforce the Governor rule. The Modi government has dismissed the idea of bringing in Governor rule, which was being pushed in by some quarters.
According to the sources the Modi has dismissed the proposal to bring the state under Governor's rule and also to change the present incumbent.
"We don't want to come in direct administrative control of the State at this juncture in particular, It has huge political and international ramification. The objective and the aim now is to get control of the things by the civilian elected government . So the suggestion from certain quarters was thoroughly rejected," said the sources.
According to the sources the Modi government had the experience of the Governor's rule after the death of the former CM Mufti Sayeed, which was not 'favourable,;/ Many senior officials had then put down the view that Governor role should end at the earliest as it's bringing the Central government in direct contact and also the 'confrontation' with the local population, which some suggested is not a healthy development.
The second proposal suggested by some quarters was to change the Governor NN Vohra, which was also summiraly rejected . The home ministry and the NSA Ajit Doval hold the belief that Vohra who had seen many developments in the state and knows the pulse of the state is better choice than another new incumbent.
"There may be certain reservations for the Vohra, but he is very experienced hand and the way he performed in two-month of Governor's rule he earned enormous good will. It's a rare thing and his this good will and services can be vital if at all any exigency arises," said the official sources.
The sources also said that Vohra is sending very critical and objective report of the situation to the Centre which is helping in develeoping the strategy to contain the situation.
