Cop makes fortunes from bovine smugglers, drug mafia | Serves at same place for 8 years | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 17: An ordinary cop has earned property disproportionate to his known sources if income, while serving at same place for last eight years. According to sources the cop is extracting hefty amount from drug mafia and bovine smugglers in Sidhra area. "The cop had already served at Police Station Nagrota for seven years, having close proximity with topcops has managed his transfer at Police Post, Sidhra, that too falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station, Nagrota", sources said, adding that during his service, the cop who belongs to a poor family, has raised palatial house and has several plots in different part of Jammu city. "Serving as an important part of money extraction net work in police department, the cop in violation of service rules, during his long tenure at PS Nagrota, had developed relation with mafia, and now earning hafta, from the people indulged in crime", sources said, adding that the cop is also under scanner of anti graft agencies. "The cop purchased a plot measuring 13 marlas, Balessa colony Bathidni worth rupees 40 lacs", sources claimed, adding that house was constructed in the plot with worth Rs 50 lacs. The cop has two more plots in Sidhra area and has bought several LIC polices and bank balance. "He has a polt in Gujjar Colony Sidhra and another one in Nagrota area", sources said, adding that last thecop has bought a new car. "The higher-ups of the department are also aware about the nexus being run by the cop, but despite taking action, encouraging him to expand his network so that more and more money is extracted", they alleged. Source further alleged it is not an isolated case where an cop staying at same place has earned huge, but there are numerous, example where lower rung officials are working at same place for decade and draining state's exchequer. |
