Jammu, Aug 17: SKUAST-Jammu observed the second day, of Weeklong Parthenium Awareness campaign, being organized national level. According to press release on the second day awareness programme on Parthenium weed at Research Farm Chatha, Jammu has been organized. Dr. Parmod Baru, Associate Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu highlighted the ill-effects of Parthenium weed and suggested uprooting in rainy season beside other methods to eradicate the obnoxious weed. He stressed on the fact that there is a need of participation of the stake holders, municipalities, town area committees, school children, college students and volunteer groups in community approach, to overcome this menace. Dr B R Bakaya, Incharge, AICRP-Weed Management emphasized on the propagation of parthenium weed through the plant's seeds, which are carried by wind, water, animals and human. |
