Jammu, Aug 17: With a focus on revival of tree man relationships and to nurture tree protection consciousness among Ayurvedic doctors, University students and scholars, two Rakhi tying tree talk sessions were organized in the Aushadhi Adhyan Govt Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu and in the Botanical garden, University of Jammu. While tying Rakhi threads of faith to medicinally, culturally and religiously significant trees at both locations, founder of Tree Talk campaign shared inputs on tree worship, tree conservation and protection by way of sacred groves seen located at Jatwal near Samba, Baba Bheem di Bani near Tikri in Jammu region, Pohu sacred grove at Chandigam Lolab, Habba Khatoon sacred grove in Gurez in Kashmir and Shukpa sacred grove near Foker Kargil in Ladakh. Botany, Dogri and Ayurvedic scholars and students including Prof Yashpal, Prof Archna Kesar, Prof Namrata Sharma, Dr Veenu Kaul, Dr Taran Singh, Dr Geeta Sharma, Dr Paurush, G D Chalotra tied sacred rakhi threads to trees namely Sita Ashok, Satpatiya, Mahua, Nagchampa, Himchampa, Kasheer Champa, Maulsari, Sahijan, Aam, Peepal, Bargad, Shyonaka, Tun, Neem, Kadamb, Jaitun, Arjun, Amla, Bel on the occasion. |
