Police facing hurdles in apprehending influential persons involved in Sept 14 clashes: Reports

Rajouri, Sept 20: Rajouri Police reportedly is facing hurdles in apprehending some influential miscreants who are allegedly involved in the vandalism, stone pelting and including damage to few shops during recent communal tension erupted on September 14.
A senior police officer on promised anonymity has mentioned about slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) against few persons from both the communities for instigating their community members for damaging the property and stone pelting on the shops and on the security forces.
"Despite specific inputs the police failed to arrest any miscreant till early morning hours on Tuesday whether under mounting pressure from the particular community or for other reasons, he added.
Meanwhile some well informed sources in district administration also said that police has failed to arrest any miscreants as identified for their involvement in arson, stone pelting and damage to few shops of minority community toil Monday.
Meanwhile Administration also had relaxed curfew on September 16 in phase manner at different localities after it was imposed on late evening on September 14 following communal clashes over alleged sacrilegious act on Eid-ul Azha. Despite relaxation of curfew the minority community had refused to open the shop till the government announces compensation and take stringent action ( arrest) against the miscreants.
"Meanwhile after hectic efforts police have effected arrest of nine miscreants so for while one Vishal Kumar was released on bail on Monday, sources said, adding, "Police have identified few miscreants from CCTV footages."
According to reports the arrested have been identified as Shafayat Shah, Mohd Rafi. Tahir Mehmood, Vishal Sharma,Mushtaq Ahmed, Mohd Sahil, Mohd Shafiq, Haq Nawaz and Attar Mirza.
Meantime following assurance by none other but Sham Lal Choudhry, Minister for PHE that stringent action will be taken against the culprits/miscreants involved in arson and stone pelting in Rajouri town, minority community had decided to open their shops/business establishments on Monday.
It was also decided that further course of action will be decided after week's time and after reviewing police action against the miscreants as promised by the PHE Minister.
