Early Times Report

Srinagar, Sept 20: Amid speculations of a major split in the PDP in the wake of resignation of senior leader and MP, Tariq Karra, the PDP held a high level meeting here Tuesday. The message: forget Karra and stay united.
Sources in PDP said that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti asked the party cadre to exhibit a united face. Several senior leaders of the party discussed at threadbare the need to foil the propaganda that is being spread against the government in the state. The party men, as per the insiders, have been asked to keep a close vigil on the elements who are waiting in wings to create turbulence within the ranks.
Mufti, as per the sources privy to the development, was assured the support of every nature to give befitting reply to those who have come with the divisive agenda. "The dire need at present is to keep the party strong at all levels so that the propagandists aren't allowed to go scot-free. It was unanimously resolved that the party is based on principles and is striving for the resumption of peace in the state in general and in the restive valley in particular," sources divulged.
Furthermore, the party leadership also took serious note of Tariq Karra's recent jibes at the PDP and calling for the fall of the state government. The party leaders and activists while slamming Karra for his uncalled for remarks have stated that such a spree of baseless allegations must be countered with remarkable achievements on ground. "The situation has been improving remarkably in Valley. The people too have started coming out from their homes to make their both ends meet. We can say with certainty that normalcy is gradually returning and normal life is getting back on track," says a PDP leader, adding that once measures for peace are taken at all levels by the government, divisive elements cannot be allowed at any cost to have their day out.
The meeting within the PDP leadership lasted for more than two hours and various issues related to the ground situation and party's connectivity on ground was discussed at threadbare. The party men were asked by the leadership to work with earnest efforts and help the state in bringing tranquillity back in Valley. "The party leadership and workers unanimously rejected the bizarre assertions of Tariq Karra, stating that since the inception of the new government, Karra's role vis-a-vis proving people good governance was dismal," said a group of PDP workers.
They added that such the times have gone when a rebel's fiery speeches would excite people. "Everyone knows that what Karra is doing is mere politics and is striving to hoodwink public opinion. Such unnatural assertions wouldn't help anyone," workers said.
