Bishnah/RS Pura , Sept 20: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, illegal smuggling of liquor from other states, the J&K Excise Department has intensified raids/checking of various locations/premises to check the offences/crimes being committed.
Under the overall supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, Nagendra Singh Jamwal , Excise teams led by ETO, City Excise Range South Jammu, Naeem Mughal and ETO, Eradication Wing Jammu, Suresh Sharma assisted by Inspector Ritesh Gupta and Sub Inspectors Manvinder Pal Singh and Sandeep Kumar, conducted a series of raids in Bishnah and R S Pura Excise Ranges at villages Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Kothey Bulandey, Kotli Mian Fateh, Dablehar, Kotli Charkan and Tara Chak to arrest the menace of illicit distillation.
During the course of Excise Raids one person namely Kunti Devi W/o Dev Raj Caste Sansi R/o Kothey Bulandey was arrested and booked under section 48 of J&K Excise Act 1958. Two Bottles of Illicit Liquor were recovered from her possession. Besides this 600 kg (approx) of lahan and five bottles of illicit liquor made from lahan which is highly hazardous and injurious for health were recovered by the rading team from the state land and destroyed on the spot. |
