! Two Cong Ministers deliberately deleted in list by Information Deptt | Govt 's achievement list a poetry in CM's praise | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 1: Inauguration of 49 projects, foundation stone of 22 projects and 34 Cabinet decisions are the major achievements of the Omar Abdullah led coalition Government which completes fourth year in Government this week. The State Cabinet had 36 meetings which should have been 48 meetings as CM himself had in the past said that Cabinet will meet every Tuesday of the week. One of the important decisions of the Cabinet include 18-hole golf course at Sidhra. This is one major achievement of the Government which claims to be people friendly. The inauguration of the medical camp at Jammu University recently is also termed as its achievement for the year gone by. The fact of the matter is that this medical camp was organized by one of the leading hospitals in the country in collaboration with the J&K Bank where J&K Government had nothing to do or contribute. The camp was not organized with the intention of some social work or with philanthropy spirit but with purely commercial interests in mind. The only achievement in this regard of the Government was that CM inaugurated it and also tweeted about it. One of the important achievements of the Government had been the laying of foundation stone of engineering centre at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University at Rajouri. All the achievements have been credited to the CM and none of the foundation stones laid or projects inaugurated by his Cabinet colleagues have been listed as achievements. In Parliamentary democracy, Chief Minister is just first among the equals. The Government should have listed the major reforms and efforts made in streamlining the medical services and efforts to improve tourism infrastructure especially in Jammu and Ladakh regions. Since these two ministries are headed by the Cong Ministers, the Information Department, had deliberately and not by default chosen to ignore it. Not a word of appreciation was spared to efforts made by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather in pressing the Centre for the largest State plan ever. |
