Congress takes seating arrangement to heart | Zubin's concert to haunt NC | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 12: The seating arrangement during Zubin Mehta's concert in Shalimar garden on September 7 is likely to shake the National Conference (NC). The Congress has taken strong exception to the arrangement that forced Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president, Saif-ud-Din Soz sit in the 15th row while a lady journalist from New Delhi made herself comfortable in the front row. Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Monga believed to be a close aide of Soz expressed surprise over the seating arrangement. "It is strange that the Government did not show any respect to Soz." Another leader preferring anonymity said: "If the NC has no respect for the Congress leader, how will they treat other leaders of the party which happens to be NC's coalition partner?" The seating fiasco has taken place at a time when the coalition partners have locked horns over Dr Kamaal's `irresponsible and reckless' statements. The nominations made by the Chief Minister to the LAHDC have further strained their relations. The Congress has already sought intervention of the high command. Some Congress leaders have even blamed the alliance with the NC for the mess the party (Congress) finds itself in. "We do not want to leave the Government on a bad note. Let us bear the NC taunts for some time more then we will form our own Government", said an agitated leader. |
