Katra, Jan 27: While the Government schools in the cities and towns have been crowded by the kith and kin of the bureaucrats and politicians, the schools in the peripheries are suffering due to pressing shortage of staff and the academics of poor students are suffering. Over 30 percent posts in Lowher Hathal zone of district Rajouri are vacant since last many months, but concerned authorities have turned a blind eye towards this grave issue. Sources informed Early Times that there were 300 posts of teachers, masters and Rehbar-E-Talim teachers in Lowher Hahal zone of tehsil Sunderbani of district Rajouri. "Out of these 300 posts, 98 are vacant for the last many months, but despite repeated appeals to concerned authorities, no heed has been paid so far", sources said. They further said that the vacant 98 posts, comprised of 64 posts of teachers, 14 posts of Masters and 20 posts of Rehbar-E-Talim teachers. Castigating the Education department, Panchayat representatives of the area said that they had made repeated appeals to concerned authorities including Zonal Education Officer, Chief Education Officer Rajouri, Director School Education and even to Education Minister but none took any action. "The studies of our wards are suffering but our requests are falling on deaf ears of authorities concerned. Transfer industry is ruling roost in Education department and after paying hefty amount, a sizeable number of teachers have secured posting in cities and urban areas", Sarpanch Tirath Ram, Om Parkash, Ram Singh alleged, adding that concerned authorities were busy in minting money, instead of streamlining the system. Zonal Education Officer, Ravinder Khajuria said that he had forwarded several letters to higher authorities, for want of staff, but no action has been taken so far. He further said that once the staff is made available, he would depute to various schools, which were running short of staff. |
