Shocked Omar plays to galleries | | | Srinagar, July 20: The decision of Ambika Soni that Cong will go to polls alone has un-nerved the Chief Minister so much that he said the decision to go alone in the polls was taken by NC and it was accordingly conveyed to Sonia Gandhi 10 days ago. Omar also said that Farooq Abdullah will not contest elections for health reasons. This is another admission of defeat, believe the political analysts. Interestingly, the seniors in the NC wanted return of Dr Farooq to state politics. They were critical of the role of CM and held him responsible for the poll debacle. Farooq, it may be mentioned suffered the first ever defeat during the Parliamentary elections. The defeat, it seems has had an adverse effect on his nerves. Omar Abdullah announced the 32 candidates last week. The NC had not fielded candidates in constituencies which are represented by Congress candidates. This showed that the NC had kept the doors of coalition open. But today when Ambika Sonia announced that the Cong will go alone in the elections, Omar tweeted that decision was infact taken by NC 10 days ago. Omar is also un-nerved by the much talked about Azad-Mufti meet. |
