Pak trained ultras may target schools ahead of RD celebrations: Lt-Gen KH Singh | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 15: Even though only 37 active militants are left across Jammu region the senior most army officer of the Nagrota based 16 corps headquarters have warned against fresh strikes on 'soft targets' including schools, places of worship and army convoy moving on the National Highway in the run up to the Republic day celebrations. After paying tributes to the martyrs marking the Army day celebrations here in Nagrota Lt-Gen KH Singh, GOC 16 corps told reporters in Jammu," there are general inputs that militant might target soft targets including schools, civilian areas and convoy moving on the National Highway in the run up to teh Republic day celebrations. The army officer also maintained that there is no specific input adding there are general inputs only about the possible militant strikes on soft targets. He said every time there is some positive attention given to India inimical elements who want to disturb peace target India. It may be mentioned US president Barack Obama is visiting India on the occasion of Republic day. Sharing current assessment Lt-Gen KH Singh claimed according to intelligence inputs around 200 trained militants are waiting for their turn to infiltrate inside the Indian territory from across 36 launching pads. He said Pak army regulars, ISI men and militants are coordinating their efforts sitting inside these launching pads to energise terror activities across the border. Lt-Gen Singh also maintained that the alert Indian troops have foiled all such attempts in the past and in future also they would defeat all such nefarious designs.We are fully prepared to tackle any eventuality,said Lt-Gen Singh. Commenting on the possibility of Tehrik-e- Taliban Pakistan cadre slipping inside the Indian borders the army officer said they have received inputs indicating clearly that this could be a possibility but at the same time added Indian army would never allow such inimical elements to cross over and disturb peace inside the Indian borders. He also declined to admit about the possibility of presence of Taliban in India. |
