RDA continues stir, decides to submit ‘resignations’ over 'security issue' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 2 : The ongoing issue of 'assault on an on duty doctor by a Lawyer has taken ugly turn following registering of counter FIR, the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) has decided to submit their resignations to register their protest demanding due security to the doctors on duty at Govt medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu. According a spokesperson RDA, if our demands are not met in principle we (RDA) will not call off the strike and about 300 resident doctors are going to submit their resignation on Tuesday. Spokesperson said that the RDA members under the leadership of President RDA Dr Neeraj Sharma had a marathon meeting with the hospital administration including by principal GMC&H Jammu, MS GMC&H Jammu and Deputy MS GMC&H Jammu and other emergency incharges wherein the administration failed to provide assurance of deployment of adequate security in the GMC &H Jammu and Associated Hospitals in black and white. Highlighting demands, the statement said< "RDA demands atleast 45 police personnel (15 in each shift) in GMC and about 25-30 police personnel (10 in each shift) in SMGS hospital, Closure report of fabricated FIR against the doctors, Making assault on doctors on duty and hospital staff a 'non bail able offence on the pattern of New Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat and etc. The RDA further has questioned the police how police can register a FIR against a person who was atleast 30 kms away at the time of alleged incident. "Everybody knows this, Dr Vinod Katil Organizing Secretary of the RDA. said and added, "the phone call and location details of Dr Neeraj Sharma President RDA can prove this." He also had sought action against concerned police persons for lodging fabricated FIR against Doctors. The RDA statement stated that doctors/RDA members went on complete shutdown of all emergency services from 4:30 pm in protest as the Hospital administration has failed to take a corrective measure. Dr Romil Sharma Organizing secretary, Dr Akhil Gupta Joint Secretary RDA, and others also regretted the inconvenience caused to general public and said the inconvenience is due to the insensitivity of the administration despite RDA have submitted its strike notice in advance 3 days ago and repeatedly over the frequent incidents of assaults on doctors in last seven months. |
