JKPSC postpones AD exams again | Aspirants anguished over Officers' absence at PSC | | Akshay Azad JAMMU, Mar 2: Headless Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has postponed the examination of Assistant Director, Statistics cum Evaluation for the second time, in less than one month, evoking strong resentment among aspirants, especially of Jammu province. Despite heavy downpour on Monday in Jammu, hundreds of aspirants assembled outside the office of JKPSC at Resham Ghar colony, only to be told that the officials in the examination centers were waiting for phone call from Srinagar to start the examination. "None of the officials of JKPSC was present in the examination halls, which were made in the office of JKPSC. Initially it was told that examination scheduled to be held at 10:00 AM has been postponed and would held at 12:00 noon. Whenever we enquired about reason behind postponement, some clerks present there said, they have been contacting Srinagar for further directions", one of the aspirant wishing anonymity said. He further said, "At 12 O clock, we were informed that the examination has been postponed till further orders, but the official notification by PSC was only issued at 1 PM, maintaining that the written examination of compulsory papers (General English and General Economics) of Assistant Director, Statistics cum Evaluation Service scheduled to be held on 2nd and 3rd March 2015, has been postponed till further orders due to inclement weather". The fresh dates shall be notified separately, the order further read. Criticizing the PSC authorities, another applicant said that it was for the second time that compulsory papers of Assistant Director have been postponed. "Earlier also, the written examinations (General Knowledge, General English , General Economics and Theory and Practice of Statistics) scheduled to be held on February 10 and February 11 were postponed after issuance of a notification and that too on February 10 (the day of examination). Once again, the written compulsory examination (General English & General Economics) has been postponed, that too on the same day, on which it was scheduled March 2 and 3, which portends towards some hidden mystery behind the postponing of examination frequently", he said. "Entire Jammu province has been witnessing rains and snowfall but all aspirants reached to take examination but it is still a mystery, why examination is once again postponed", aspirants said. The infuriated aspirants further said that they were contemplating to submit a memorandum, expressing resentment against PSC, but none of the official was present there. Former Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation, Narinder Singh Jamwal castigated the PSC authorities and said that it was a case of discrimination with Jammu youth. "For few Kashmiri youth, the youth of Jammu was made to suffer, which shows insensitivity and lack of responsibility of JKPSC officials", he said. Secretary of JKPSC, Shakeel-ul-Rehman didn't pick up his phone despite repeated calls to him at 5:30 PM. |
