------ VC's recommendation to nominate Prof Dilip Singh in JU Council ------ | University faculty declares open war on social media | | Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 2: Inviting resentment from within the teaching fraternity in the university, acting vice Chancellor, Prof RD Sharma has reportedly recommended name of Prof Dalip Singh Jamwal Head and Professor, Department of Mathematics as member JU Council. Well placed sources told Early Times without conducting elections for Jammu University Teacher's Association (JUTA), "Prof Dalip Singh Jamwal Head and Professor, Department of Mathematics, is already member of JU council through JUTA, quota. His tenure has expired on January 16, 2015. Instead of conducting elections for JUTA, his name was recommended in last of week of February 2015", they said. They further alleged that the VC has extended this favour to Prof Dalip Singh Jamwal because he is a close relative of a Union Minister. The issue also triggered a war on social media where faculty of the varsity are openly expressing their anguish against the acting VC. Professor and Head of the Department of Economics, Dr. Deepankar Sen Gupta, in a post on facebook wrote, "I think that the JUTA elections should be called as early as possible and the person elected should go to the University Council. It would be inappropriate for Prof Ramji Sharma (Prof RD Sharma) to propose as the university teacher's representative a person whose tenure is over." Other faculty members have also resented the shortcut opted by acting VC to adjust Prof Dalip. Professor Dr. J P Singh Joorel Department of Statistics, ridiculing the process wrote, "It seems everything is fixed." However, responding to his colleagues on the social-site Prof Sharma made efforts to pacify them. He wrote, "Anlom vilom karo achchi soch hogi. Jo is samay chal raha sab shudh ho jayega. Galat soch, galat act, galat dhrishti swine flu kar deti hai, is se bachana hi chahiye." Disappointed over continued debate on facebook, an apparently anguished Prof Sharma wrote, "See 'everything is fixed' not withdrawn. One should not go to the extent that it becomes difficult to see even face to face." Registrar JU, Prof Manoj K Dhar when contacted refused to comment on the issue. "It is difficult to make a comment over the query, it is not right time to disclose that whose name was recommended", he said.
