Mufti consults BJP legislators before announcing portfolios | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 2: Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed Monday hosted a dinner for council of his ministers to "cool down tempers" as BJP legislators were ostensibly unhappy over PDP getting a Lion's share in the new cabinet. Sources told Early Times the purpose of sitting together over dinner was to resolve the issue of distribution of portfolios and celebrate the formation of new PDP-BJP dispensation in Jammu and Kashmir. They said after the oath taking ceremony ended on Sunday it became clear that out of 15 cabinet ministers 10 would be from the PDP and BJP would get 5 only, including one for Sajjad Lone, the BJP legislators expressed dismay over the "uneven distribution" of portfolios. The BJP leaders, sources said, were also dissatisfied with the choice of portfolios which were offered to them. To avoid any embarrassment Chief Minister decided to consult the BJP leaders before allotting the portfolios and to accommodate their aspirations, they added. It was learnt during the dinner meet the legislators of both the parties mingled with each other and an attempt was made to have a relook into the list to avoid further delay in allotting portfolios to new ministers. |
