Swine flu panic: DB direct CS to take steps for release of funds | | | Jammu, Mar 2 (JNF): In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Smile Social Youth Club through its President Matloob Saleem Qureshi regarding facilities of State for organ transplant and diagnostic lab to conduct Swine Flu Test at Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu, a Division Bench (DB) of High Court directed Chief Secretary (CS) of J&K State to take immediate steps for release of Rs 628.11 lakh for establishment of Swine Flu H1N1 laboratory. When the case came-up for hearing today, Division Bench comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur after hearing Advocate Navneet Dubey appearing for the PIL whereas AAG HA Siddiqui appearing for the state observed that earlier this Division Bench while considering the seriousness of the matter, has directed State Govt to set-up a laboratory for test of Swine Flu at Jammu and it was further reported that a sum of Rs 628. 11 lakh is required in this regard. Today when the status report has filed in which a letter was also enclosed issued by Joint Director (P&S) Health and Medical Education Dept addressed to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for release of Funds for the proposed project, the Division Bench observed that since the amount involved is 628.11 lakh, Division Bench is of considered view that this can be initially spent by the State itself subject to reimbursement from central Govt and directed Chief Secretary of J&K State to take immediate steps for release the above mentioned amount for establishment of Swine Flu H1N1 laboratory. |
