SKUAST-J teachers call on Dy CM Nirmal Singh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 4: A delegation of SKUAST- Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) led by its President Dr. Vikas Sharma met Deputy Chief Minister and National Executive Member BJP, Dr. Nirmal Singh at his residence and apprised him of some very important and burning issues related to the development of SKUAST-Jammu. While interacting with the Dy. CM, Dr. Vikas Sharma apprised him that Jammu province contains 10 districts and this State Agriculture University have limited staff and meager financial resources, which makes difficult to cater to the needs of farmers in far flung areas of Doda/ Bhaderwah, Bani, Basohli and Billawar which have suffered political as well as developmental alienation since independence. Sharma further informed the leader that Jammu division contains all the four agroclimatic zones wherein different sets of crops / cash crops, vegetables and fruits are gown during the year. So, establishment of new research stations/KVKs and mainly regular flow of funds from State / Centre Govt. is the utmost requirement of this only farm and professional University of the region. After giving a patient hearing to SKUAST-teachers, Dr. Nirmal Singh said that for the overall development of Jammu Division and to address time to time demands of farming community, steps will be taken up very soon to develop this regional varsity both in terms of infrastructure and HRD. He further assured full administrative and financial support to varsity from the present Government. The deputation comprised of Dr. Vivek M. Arya - General Secretary, Dr. P.K. Rai - Joint Secretary, Dr. Devinder Sharma - Publicity Secretary and Dr. Rajeev Bharat Sangra-Treasurer. |
