State BJP unit unhappy over representation in cabinet | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 4: The state unit of the BJP is unhappy over the alleged 'step-motherly' treatment mooted out it in the Council of Ministries. The BJP ministers and even MLAs have reportedly communicated their displeasure and resentment to the party seniors. "It seems the central leadership of the party has been befooled by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Earlier we had the impression that only Congress high command was appeasing Kashmiri leadership. But now it seems that even BJP is playing the same game," said a BJP minister, wishing not to be named. The BJP is particularly perturbed over the fact that despite having equal number of the seats it was made to play the second fiddle. "We are still unable to comprehend what was the compulsion of the Central leadership. It should have at least given more representation to the erstwhile Doda district, where cadre fought against all odds. Giving just State Ministers is an insult to the people of the region," said a BJP leader. The PDP has even given cabinet ministry to its lone representative from the Rajouri while BJP got four seats from erstwhile Doda region. The party should have made a MLC from the Poonch and given it a ministerial berth. "Rajouri-Poonch and erstwhile Doda districts have strategic importance for the Jammu region and it implies BJP. Mufti Sayeed is carefully building inroads in these areas but it seems that BJP is acting a mute spectator," said the leader. |
