RPS, other Pvt school violate Court orders, charges fee for Sept-Oct months | Students complaint against school management | | Saahil Suhail
Anantnag, Mar 4: Alleging that the school management has violated orders of the Jammu Kashmir High Court and has charged fee and transportation charges for the months of September and October, which was waived off by the court in view of the floods in the Valley, the students of Radiant Public School in Anantnag today filed a complaint against the school management with Chief Education Officer Anantnag. A group of students of Radiant Public School Anantnag filed a written complaint against the school management in the office of Chief Education Officer Anantnag and alleged that they were forced to pay the fee of September and October in volition of the High Court directive. "We approached school management and requested them not to charge fee for the both months in view of the court directions but the administration didn't budge from its stance and went ahead forcing us (students) to pay the same," alleged students in their complaint. Students earlier also had met Deputy Commissioner Anantnag who directed them to bring the matter into the notice of Chief Education Officer (CEO) Anantnag for swift action against the school management. Chief Education Officer Anantnag Ghulam Rasool confirmed to Early Times that he had received complaint of students against the school management."A group of students approached me with a written complaint on whose basis we will initiate action against this particular school." CEO Anantnag said, adding, "he also has received similar complaints against some other private schools. " Meantime the fee receipts in possession of Early Times vindicate the allegations of the students from Radiant Public School. However, Sajjad Ahmad, Chairman of Radiant Public School Anantnag when contacted denied the allegations. He however defending his case said, "We haven't charged but our clerk has done some mistake we have conveyed to all students that if they need we can refund them the deposited money." Pertinently the court while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) had directed the schools in Kashmir not to charge any fee from the students in view of the devastating floods that hit the Valley in the first week of September 2014. J&K High Court had also issued notices to 59 schools and had asked them to explain reasons for charging tuition fee and bus fare for the months of September and October earlier. |
