Cong high-command to remove "non-performing liabilities" from J&K unit | | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 4: With the appointment of Ghulam Ahmed Mir as Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief, revamping of Congress in on cards as party high command has decided to remove deadwood from the organisation. Credible sources in the party said that high command has decided give important positions to some youth leaders so that party should be made vibrant and aggressive. Former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Saif-ud-Din had tried infusing fresh blood in the organisation but he failed because veteran leaders were not ready pave the way for younger generation. The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Congress is dominated by "aged" leaders but they are not volunteering themselves to vacate the important posts, which they have been occupying for the last two decades. Sources said that Soz had initiated some step to appoint new faces but due to factionalism and "Delhi connection" of veteran leaders the PCC was looking helpless to replace them. Sources said that Soz had indirectly suggested some veteran leaders to vacate their posts for young people but his appeal was not accorded serious thought by the "septuagenarian and octogenarian" Congress leaders. Most of the Congress leaders between the age group of 40 to 50 years are worst victim of the veteran dominated party because they neither are allowed to continue in Youth Congress nor they are adjusted in the parent body. "It is all due to the pressure of such middle aged leaders that Soz had tried to replace some of the veterans but he failed", sources said and added that high command has given green signal to new president G A Mir to replace the "non-performing liabilities". Credible sources said that chiefs of some frontal organisations, who have occupied positions for the last ten years, are also likely to be removed. |
