Veterans show their excellence during Veteran Athletics events | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 3: J&K Veteran Athletic Association (Affiliated with Veterans Athletic Federation of India) today conducted field and other events for men and women between the age group of 35 to 80 years. According to spokesperson of the association, the chief guest Minister of State (MoS) for Information, Education and Culture Smt Priya Sethi gave away the prizes to the winners and participants of various track and field events. Speaking on the occasion chief guest Minister of State (MoS) Smt Priya Sethi hailed the initiative of Veteran Athletic Association to organize such an event. She also lauded the spirit of participants who proved their agility and active life style and set an example for the new generation that healthy life style is good for a healthy life. Among those who were declared top winner in various events held here today included Sudesh Kumari Ist, Neelam Sharma as IInd, Neelam Kundal as IIIrd in 5kms walk women (50yrs category) in similar event above 50-60 yrs, Kanta Butyal (55+), Tripta Sharma (60+) and Pushpa Kumari (65+) were declared first winners while Pawan Sharma (45+) was decalred as winner in 40+ category for women Meanwhile in 5 kms walk (Men) Tarsaim Lal Basotra (60+), Devinder Sharma (70+), Sardar Ajit Singh (80+) were declared first in their respective categories whilst Balwan Singh, Balbir Singh and Bishan Dogra were declared top three winners in 65+ 5kms Run event. Rampaul Kapoor and Rajesh Padha were declared as first and second in 5kms Run event for 55+ category while Manohar Lal Sharma stood first in same event in 60+ category. Spokesperson further said that in 50+ for Men's 5 Kms run, participant namely BK Dogra, Sanjay Saini and Kamlesh Dubey were declared top three winners respectively. |
