ICDS launches "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" scheme | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Mar 5: Integrated Child Development Programme, ICDS today launched 'Beti Bachao- Beti Padhao" programme in Kathua city and its adjoining villages. A mobile van has been launched to wake people about empowerment of Girl child. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 'Beti Bachao- Beti Padhoa" scheme from Panipat and selected 100 districts across the country where girl child ratio has been very low according to Census 2011. In this regard, 5 districts of Jammu and Kashmir including District Kathua have also fallen in this category. Union Women and Child empowerment department instructed Education, Health, social Welfare and ICDS department to promote the scheme by awaking people about the Girl Child. In this regard, ICDS Kathua under the supervision of R.N Sadhu, District Programme Officer Kathua today organized awareness camps in different wards of Kathua city and pictured a documentary film. While informing about the programme, Sadhu said Prime Minister lunched this scheme and directed to ICDS to organize such awareness camps in district Kathua for the promotion of girls child. He appraised that many such camps have been organized in Bani, Basohli, Billawar and other adjoining villages of Kathua city. He said the discrimination between girl and boy child is being criticized through mobile van. Sadhu sought public support and said sex detection falls under stern crime. He said the sex ratio falls at 832/1000 in Kathua district which is an alarming bell for the society. He informed that sex ration must be 952/1000 at International level that has yet to reach. He ensured that people would aware to series of awareness programmes and sex ration would definitely enhance in days to come. |
