RTO Jammu warns cab operators against alleged 'fleecing' of passengers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 5: Following some complaints that some 'cab operators' are fleecing the passengers, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Jammu along with team of Motor Vehicle Inspectors today visited General Bus Stand Jammu and cautioned travel agents and cab operator to charge the fare from the passengers as notified by the government otherwise they will have to face consequences. An official spokesperson said, "Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and Assistant Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Jammu along with team of Motor Vehicle Inspectors today visited General Bus Stand and through a public sound system made announcements to instruct travel agents and vehicle operator's including Taxi cabs operator to charge the fare from the passengers proceeding Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa as per government notifications. They also cautioned failing so licenses of travel agents shall be suspended. "Meanwhile for the convenience of passengers and visitors from outside the state the fare chart Flex boards were displayed at the prominent places of different places in and around the General Bus Stand Jammu, official added. When contacted RTO Jammu further said that a team of Motor Vehicle Inspectors headed by ARTO Jammu shall monitor the traffic management with respect to ensure implementation of fare notified by the government time to time. "Especially from Jammu to Srinagar keeping in view stranded passengers from General Bus Stand Jammu, he added. He also maintained that the fare list of passenger fare was also circulated to traffic police and executive police to ensure implementation of fare rates notified by the government. "The drive of checking shall be continuing for few days at General Bus Stand upto Nagrota, he added. |
