Lady alleges 'harassment' at Passport Office, officials play it down | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 5: An alleged case of public harassment surfaced in Passport Office, Jammu when a lady- wife of senior officer was allegedly shown door after she objected on the staffer's move. Meanwhile concerned officials evading any controversy briefly said confusion perhaps came over explanation of 'requisite formalities.' The victim namely Dilshad Khalid Shah of Sidhra speaking to reporters, said that she went to the Passport Office Jammu for applying of the fresh passport of her minor son namely Aazibhamza after completing all formalities. To her surprise she was asked by official at passport office that in addition to the formalities, she has to produce the joint account of her from a reputed bank which must be older than a year or six months. She further alleged that she went to one Kuldeep Kumar, a senior officer in the passport office which proved futile and was just embarrassing. Later, she was told to make her way out from office. Meanwhile, Passport Officer, SP Rajinder Gupta when contacted said that he had not received any such complaint from anybody. "Perhaps the confusion over explaining the formalities has led ugliness in situation," the officer said adding, "if anybody has any complaint, he/ she should contact him as he is available in the office during office hours. |
