Fourth bridge on Tawi again falls to rains | Govt likely to order probe | |
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 16 : Continuous rainfall in Jammu region on Monday washed away portion of the main road connecting Fourth bridge over river Tawi causing inconvenience to motorists during the day. The bridge built at a whopping cost of 90 crores (approx) was dedicated to the people of the state by the then chief minister Omar Abdullah in May 2013. Ironically, the same portion of the road was earlier washed away in flash floods on September 6, 2014 forcing the authorities to close down the vehicular movement for around one month. After carrying out the repair work the bridge was thrown open to traffic in October 2014. Following heavy rains in the region as some portion of the road was washed away on Monday the traffic police authorities swung in to action and restricted the movement of people and also diverted traffic on the busy road. The state govt headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is contemplating ordering a thorough probe in the matter to fix responsibility of the errant officials who were responsible for carrying out sub standard work. |
