New incumbent Lal Singh not only needs to see writing on wall but also dig his own past | Unknown jinx over success of Health Ministry in JK | | K. Koushal Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 16: It would not be wrong to say that an 'unknown jinx' is cast over the Jammu and Kashmir Ministry of Health and its spell yet has not broken as majority of individuals in chair who often failed to retain their seats except Mian Altaf of National Conference, no health minister in the history of Jammu and Kashmir has won two consecutive terms. It was only senior National conference leader and MLA Kangan Mian Altaf Ahmed who retained his seat since 1987. Till today, majority of Health Ministers which include heavy weights of Congress viz. veteran former Congress leader (Now in PDP) Mangat Ram Sharma, R S Chib, Sham Lal Sharma Shabir Ahmed Khan and Taj-Mohi-ud Din all these have failed to retain their caps in immediate assembly polls following their successive tenures as Health Minister. However present incumbent Lal Singh who rode on 'Modi wave' too have felt the heat of this spell of this 'evil jinx'. Not only he (lal Singh) but his wife too has tasted defeat in her political career after Lal Singh made to Lok Sabha in 2004. Though he also got re-elected to 15th Lok Sabha (2nd term) in 2009 but it was not a cake walk to him. He however managed to reclaim his seat riding on magic of UPA- I economics and political mathematics of seasoned politician Ghulam Nabi Azad and just clinched the seat by defeating his nearest rival Dr Nirmal Singh (Now Deputy Chief Minister in PDP-BJP alliance) by some a margin of over 13 thousand votes as Lal Singh claimed 231853 votes while Dr Nirmal Singh of BJP secured 218459 votes. Political analyst give an upper edge only to MLA Kangan Mian Altaf Ahmed against all be it former Health Minister Govind Ram of National Conference, the then Dy chief Minister and Health Minister Mangat Ram, Congress leader and former Medical Education Minister RS Chib, Former Congress heavyweight Sham Lal Sharma, former health minister Suman Bhagat or former health minister Mohamed Shabir Khan, former health minister Taj-Mohi-ud Din who are yet clueless about this unsolved political mystery about their defeat in immediate polls followed by their tenures as health ministers. Now analyst are foreseeing a 'warning signal' for the present incumbent i.e. Lal Singh who soon after assuming the chair of health minister landed into controversies. Political analysts want present minister to go through the 'writing on wall' failing so he too may land in more quandary related to the Pandora's box of portfolio of health ministry and the jinx spelling the same. |
