Now new PSC members haunt BJP | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 16: The Mufti Sayeed led BJP government has been hit by another controversy. This time over the selection of the members of the Public Service Commission (PSC). The sources said the government has accommodated people close to the government than of the upright integrity. The government on Sunday recommended five people to the Governor for re-constituting the Public Service Commission. The government had said it wanted to restore the credibility of the government and also of the PSC. However, the close scrutiny of the names has revealed that some of the names forwarded to the Governor do not have the 'impeccable' record and 'High standards', which the government has talked off. The government had said it has gone off beat to restore the credibility of the government. But this off-beat exercise it seems that has been done to accommodate the people who are close to the ruling dispensation. Some of the names in the list sent to the PSC do not even have upright administration record and some have made name by being just in the media for 'social' activities. "This government has sent the message that it will adopt different yard sticks for the different set of rules. While, it wanted to give the message that officials with not clean public perception would not be given prime posting. But, those who are close to it would be accommodated at any cost," said a senior official. The sources said the government has been selective in punishing the 'corrupt' officials. Some of the officials, against whom cases have been registered have not only been untouched but given prime postings also. "The government from the day one is sending confusing signals. It has not even send the clear message that it wants to root out corruption, which at least is the only thing, which it can do. The PDP and BJP had been accusing the NC of indulging in corruption. But it seems it is not doing much on this account and was just doing rhetoric on this important, though the CM had in his first press conference had said it tackling corruption," said a senior PDP leader, wishing not to be named. |
