Four yrs RI and fine Rs 30,000/- awarded in molestation case | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 11 : Y P Kotwal Presiding Officer of Fast Track Court today awarded four years RI and fine Rs 30,000/- to Ravi Kumar s/o Sham Lal who was facing trial in molestation with a girl. After hearing APP GS Charak appearing for the State whereas Adv Ravinder Kumar appearing for the accused Presiding Officer Y P Kotwal observed that taking into consideration and mitigating circumstances available on the record, convict is sentenced to under 3 years RI and fine Rs 20,000/- u/s 458 RPC and he is further sentenced to under one year RI and a fine of Rs 10,000 u/s 354 RPC. Court further clarified that both the sentences shall run concurrently and also directed that in case fine amount is realized from the convict then an amount of Rs 30,000/- shall be paid to prosecutrix as compensation who suffered due to the act of the convict. According to the police case during the intervening night of April 24/25, 2012 while the prosecutrix was sleeping in her house (as her husband gone to attend his duties at Christian Hospital, Akhnoor), accused after breaking the service line of her house had knocked her door, however, when the prosecutrix had not open the door he had forcibly opened the door and caught hold the prosecutrix from chest and tried to commit the rape on her. On this police registered a case and after completion of investigation challan was presented. (JNF)
