Ill Planned PM Scholarship ruins career of Kashmiri students | Haryana college disallows13 students taking exams | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report
Srinagar: The much hyped Prime Minister's Scholroship Scheme for Students of Jammu and Kashmir for pursuing education in colleges outside the state instead shaping; according to reports ruins the career of students as once again Students were barred from sitting in Exams. The Kashmiri students were expelled from colleges and universities for not paying the fee. A private engineering college in Haryana barred 13 Kashmiri students, who were promised scholarships by the central government, from appearing in examination over non-payment of fees. Thirteen Kashmiri students of Rohtak Institute of Engineering and Management (RIEM), who were supposed to appear in their third semester examination next month for B.Tech course were denied admit cards following non-payment of fees and all these students pursuing Professional Degrees under the Prime Minister Scholarship schemes despite having been promised free education under the Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme now find themselves at cross roads of their career. This is not the first case of its kind in which students pursuing education have been expelled from colleges, dozens of students who were expelled protested in Press Enclave in Srinagar to seek attention of authorities to address their problems, However till date neither union government nor state government has shown any interest in their problems. Pertinently students who applied for different professional courses under PMSS two to three years back in colleges outside the state are now in the middle of their career in such courses and cannot afford to leave such courses half way and return to Jammu and Kashmir to continue education. People's Democratic Party (PDP) President and Parliament Member from South Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti in recent session of Parliament raised the issue of kashmiri Students being harassed by college authorities to pay college fee despite assured free education under PMSS by Previous union government and despite assurances from the concerned union Minister, Smriti Irani on her query, Kashmiri students continue to suffer. Aggrieved parents while talking to Early Times said that they are worried for the career of their wards who are now in half way of their career and keeping in flood devastation last year they cannot afford to educate their children in colleges and universities of Jammu and Kashmir on their own. They sought personal intervention of the Chief Minister. |
