Cong launches attack on BJP with an eye on local body elections | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 18: The Congress has launched scathing attack on the BJP with an eye on the coming local bodies elections. The party feels that growing disillusionment of the BJP in the Jammu province could help it in securing positive results . "Forthcoming local bodies elections could be crucial for the party. We feel that Congress can stage a comeback as BJP is not only faulting on its promises but it's sending message that it can go down to any level even at the cost of betraying the mandate of the people of the Jammu region to stay in power," said a senior Congress leader, wishing not to be named. It's for this reason that Congress has picked up the issue of shifting AIIMS to Kashmir most aggressively. Sensing the coming elections, the Congress legislators even mocked at the BJP in the Assembly for being silent on this transfer of AIIMS to the Kashmir. Congress has with this game plan started holding meeting and protests at different places in the Jammu region. The newly elected Pradesh Congress Committee president GA Mir, an organizational person, has directed his party cadres to hold meeting at the every possible and send the message that Congress is not only the option but can safeguard the interest of the people of the Jammu region. "Timings of the elections are very crucial. As things are unfolding, there would be more crisis for the government, especially when the Amarnath yatra is coming. The biggest looser would be the BJP and this will be advantageous to the Congress, which already has worked with the BJP," said a senior Congress leader, wishing not to be named. The BJP also asked its cadre to gear up for the elections. The issue was discussed in the working committee of the party. However, the controversies hitting the ground and people starting getting disillusioned with even Prime Minister Modi is posing major challenges to the party on the ground. |
