| Jammu panchayats celebrate rozgar diwas | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 1: Rozgar Diwas under Mahatama Gandhi NREGA was celebrated in various Panchayats of Jammu district on the eve of "Labour Day" on Friday.
The aim of the celebration was to make the communities aware about MGNREGS employment opportunities in the Gram Panchayats, on spot job card registration for inclusion of new families/adult members, receiving work application from interested households onspot and to discuss the labour budget/Planning of works for the current month.
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj department has issued instructions to organize Rozgar Diwas once in every month.
A special programme in this regard was organized at village Mathwar which has also been identified as Adarsh Village under "Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana" (SAGY) in which local masses, members of PRI's of Panchayat Mathwar and officers from line department participated.
On spot job card registration, demand capturing and work plan under MGNREGA was discussed and deliberated at length beside various aspects of planning under SAGY also came under discussion.
A debate on the topic "Labour Rights" was also organized in which students of the local educational institutions participated.
Assistant commissioner development, Jammu Shokat Mahmood Malik and other officials of rural development department were also present on the occasion. |
