Shortage of drinking water in GMC hospital | Patients, attendants forced to buy water from outside hospital | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 20: These days the patients and their attendants in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu are suffering from the shortage of drinking water as the administration of the hospital failed to provide drinking water facilities to the visitors. "There is no proper supply of water and patients are forced to buy water from the market as drinking water is of very poor quality, available in the hospital", alleged an attendant of patient, who is coming last two days in the hospital for operation his relative. Every time, he gets drinking water outside the GMC hospital. There is no basic facility. He further said that almost many people go to outside the hospital for getting drink water. Other attendant of patients who come from Udhampur said, the sale of packaged drinking water at the shops near the hospital, is increasing their sales due to shortage of drinking water for the patients and their relatives. "The patients are forced to depend on packaged water sold outside the hospital. Besides, water supply in all wards is highly irregular, "he added. "Water is not available in the water-coolers, which are setup by the administration of the hospital. I bought it from a shop near the hospital and visitors are forced to purchase water at nearby shops due to the callous attitude of the concerned towards patients and their attendants, "Vijay Singh a visitor said and adding the packaged drinking water is sold at Rs 15 which is costly for the poor patients from far flung areas who are admitted in the hospital. |
