Doctors having MHA degrees from unrecognized institutes manning plum posts | | | Avinash Azad ET Report JAMMU, June 20: The new dispensation is yet to take a call on the doctors, who have Masters degree in Hospital Administration from the institutes which are not recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI) and who have been manning plum posts across the state for the last many years. Sources informed Early Times that several doctors including Medical Superintendents and Deputy Medical Superintendents of various hospitals in Jammu have been holding plum posts while the doctors having degrees in Hospital Management from MCI recognized institutes were subordinated to these influential doctors. "SKIMS Soura, AIIMS, Nizam Hospital Hyderabad, AFMC Pune and Jaswant Rai are MCI recognized institutes. MHA degrees from these institutes are valid, but in some hospitals, Medical Superintendents and Deputy Medical Superintendents have degrees from unrecognized institutes", sources informed. "Even superintendents and deputy superintendents of some premier hospitals in the state had degrees of unrecognised institutes", sources alleged, adding that those who had recognized degrees in hospital administration either left for other hospitals in the country or were working under those who had not recognized degrees. Sources alleged that a controversial medical superintendent of a Jammu hospital too had MHA degree from unrecognized institute. Disappointed over the government's biased approach and mending of rules to adjust the blue-eyed, a senior doctor having MHA degree from SKIMS, Soura, said that such practices discouraged the genuine degree holders. Praising work culture and professionalism at SKIMS Soura, he said some Jammu hospitals were suffering only because these were being manned by unprofessionals. Ridiculing the government claims to serve people, he said, "The quality of administration cannot improve till it remains in the hands of non-professionals and those who have done degrees through correspondence courses. He alleged that most of the superintendents and deputy superintendents, who had done degrees from unrecognised institutes, had been managing plum postings under political patronage. "Ironically, the present regime has also not mended the wrong doings of the previous governments", he added. |
