| BJP hails eviction drive, skips Bali Bhagat's name | | Divided House! | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 20: Even as state chief spokesman of party, Sunil Sethi has today appreciated the efforts being made by coalition government to stop encroachments of forest and govt lands and effective measures being taken to retrieve lands from encroachers and land mafia but the party has failed to unitedly throw its weight behind Forest Minister, Bali Bhagat for launching this drive.
Shockingly none of the party's minister or senior leader has so far openly come in support of Bali Bhagat for his initiative to retrieve encroached forest land from mafia. One of the party minister had blasted his own party colleague for targeting a particular section of the society in his anti-encroachment drive but other party ministers are hesitating to support Bali Bhagat due to serious differences in the party.
Credible sources in the BJP said that a senior leader who is looking after organisational matter of the party had urged all party ministers to jointly organise a press conference in support of Bali Bhagat but none of the ministers came forward. Ministers gave one excuse after another and avoided addressing the joint presser.
Credible sources said that none of the party ministers want to give credit to their party colleague for launching anti-encroachment drive so they are not ready to speak in favour of Bali Bhagat.
Today spokesperson of BJP addressed a press conference but name of Bali Bhagat was not mentioned in the handout issued by the party.
The hand out stated: "These encroachments had been made during regimes of earlier government which allowed such brazen lawlessness to take place by complacencies and conspiracies"
Sethi said that strict action would be taken against all encroachers irrespective of party affiliation or religion or community and efforts being made by political parties to defend encroachers is very unfortunate and anti people. The statements made by Congress to defend encroachers are deplorable and has exposed the real face of Congress whose many former ministers are involved in encroachments of govt lands. He called upon government to take immediate steps to ensure retrieving encroachments starting from important political leaders and other VIPs to set example and also called upon encroachers to voluntarily surrender encroachments failing which the govt should initiate strict action including registration of criminal cases.
Sunil Sethi also asked the public to participate in this Accountability Drive of govt by provide information of encroachments to govt in concerned department or to BJP office which will be forwarded to concerned department for appropriate strict and timely action . He also asked the people to expose the people and politician involved in this crime against people.
