20 animals perished, 30 more infected with mysterious disease in Budhal | | | Early Times Report rajouri, June 20: Twenty domestic animals reportedly died while over 30 have become victim to an epidemic that has gripped Gund -Khawas for flung areas in Budhanl of Rajouri district. Locals have demanded immediate veterinary experts to be rushed in area. According to sources the cattle died during last three days as no veterinary doctor/technician was available in the area and people had to depend on traditional treatment. "When their cattle continue to die due to some mysterious veterinary disease they approached the officials at Budhal. Amjad Ahmed a resident of the area said that as the area is situated in far flung portion of the tehsil no veterinary help including medicines are available for the treatment during last three days. "Now the matter has been brought into the notice of local district administration, he said adding that about 20 animals have died so for and more than 30 were under the grip of this mysterious disease. Dr Waseem Ahmed, veterinary doctor posted at Budhal said, "Initial investigations in this regard indicate that HBSQ virus has infected the animals in the area." "The matter has also been brought into the notice of higher authorities at Jammu and on their direction a team from Budhal and Rajouri led by senior veterinary doctors including me would be visiting the area on Sunday," said Dr Waseem. |
