Forest Deptt sleuths foil bid of Nagchatri smuggling | | | Early Times Report kishtwar, June 20: Sleuths of Forest Protection Force Kishtwar today filed a bid of Nagchatri smuggling with a seizure of 20 Kgs of banned forest produce as the accused after abandoning the forest produce escaped from the spot. Sources said, "Acting on the tip off, the team of Forest Protection Force led by Deputy Director Abdul Rashid Lone with the assistance of Kishtwar police laid a naka on Kishtwar-Sarthal Road. "The team give the signal of halt to a car which instead of halting sped up following which the joint team gave a hot chase to the car, sources said, adding," the occupants of car later threw the consignment of banned forest produce on the road side and escaped from the spot." The abandoned forest produce was seized and during formal investigations it was found to be weighing upto 20kg Nagchatri (Trillium Govananium tubers) which is smuggled to pharmaceutical companies. After the seizure of the forest produce, the Forest Protection Force (FPF) Kishtwar has registered a case and started investigations in this regard. |
